What You’ll Do:
- Leadership & Strategy: Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the data engineering team. Develop and implement the overall data architecture to support the company's business goals.
- Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient ETL processes and data pipelines. Ensure data is processed and available for analysis and reporting.
- AWS Cloud Management: Oversee the automation of data processes within the AWS cloud environment. Utilize services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and Redshift for data storage and processing.
- Data Warehousing: Manage and optimize data warehousing solutions, particularly in Redshift. Ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and manipulation.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide the data engineering team, including Senior Data Engineers, Data Analysts, BI Developers, and other team members. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Analysts, BI Developers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions that support business needs.
- Data Quality & Governance: Implement and enforce data governance practices. Ensure data integrity, quality, and security across all data processes.
- Project Management: Oversee project timelines, resources, and deliverables. Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Innovation & Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data engineering and cloud technologies. Continuously seek opportunities to improve data processes and infrastructure.
What You’ll Bring
- Education: bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data engineering or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and Redshift.
- Strong expertise in designing and managing ETL processes and data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with data warehousing solutions, particularly Redshift.
- Knowledge of Docker for containerized applications.
- Experience with version control systems, specifically GitHub.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers. Strong project management skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to analyze complex data requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Professional certifications in AWS or data engineering.
- Experience in the finance or insurance sectors.
- CFA Charter holder, FSA, ASA or 5+ years of experience working with financial and actuarial models.
