Intern – Strategic Sourcing

Job Summary:
The University of Massachusetts President's Office, located in Hadley, MA is offering a 20 hour a week internship. This is a paid internship. The selected intern(s) will intern directly with Strategic Sourcing function within the UPST. Those selected for this internship will gain valuable knowledge of the inner workings of the University of Massachusetts and specifically the President’s Office.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in strategic sourcing, and cost optimization. The intern will work closely with our Strategic Sourcing team to support various procurement initiatives, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our Procurement operations.
Essential Functions:
Interns will be responsible for:
- Supplier Research and Analysis: Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, analyze their capabilities, and assess their suitability based on quality, cost, and reliability.
- Data Collection and Management: Gather and organize data on supplier performance, pricing trends, and market conditions to support sourcing decisions.
- Cost Analysis: Assist in the analysis of cost structures and pricing models to identify opportunities for cost savings and value improvement.
- Coordinating meetings with Key Stakeholders and Suppliers
- RFQ/RFP Support: Help in preparing and issuing Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and assist in the evaluation of supplier responses.
- Support any additional processes as requested by the Director, Strategic Sourcing
