About the role

Job Summary:

The Assurance Manager, Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing, Operations is an internal-facing role that manages the financial operations and reporting of the Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing practice (AAO). This role takes focus in the areas of practice financial management and analysis, workstream/project planning, business analysis, ongoing project management, team and resource management, and troubleshooting to support implementing AAO’s overall strategy for financial growth and operations. This individual oversees and leads multiple complex, mission critical projects that may be separate and distinct, or highly interdependent and integrated.

Job Duties:

National Financial Operations Management:

  • Manages the AAO National Financial Operations function, including:
    • Analyzes monthly practice financial statement and KPIs 
    • Develops practice financial reports and metric reporting
    • Prepares practice annual financial budgets and tracks or investigates monthly variances to budgets
    • Analyzes engagement level profitability reports
  • Conducts engagement and practice profitability analysis and provides financial analysis insights to Market Managing Principals
  • Drives practice financial data quality and process standardization to provide insightful analysis for timely practice leadership decision making
  • Independently manages multiple strategic, simultaneous internal projects for the Practice including managing team members to accomplish project objectives, exercising good judgement and independent decision making to ensure project completion, and delivering work products that meet or exceed project requirements and meeting deadlines
  • Manages projects and team resources to ensure timely completion and alignment with practice quality standards
  • Monitors project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions
  • Manages and oversees the offshore core business operations for AAO in support of client facing professionals, specifically the Principals and Practice Leaders

Internal Stakeholder Delivery:

  • Creates high-quality well written communications and presentations
  • Documents and distributes information, action items, and risks from internal project meetings, and follows up to ensure actions are taken, risks are mitigated, and issues are resolved
  • Creates presentation materials including graphics and content for high level meetings and conferences; presents information related to practice financial management and administration

Other duties, as required


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Fosters a culture that embraces change and accountability
  • Provides training on practice finance and operational tools, processes and resources, as appropriate
  • Serves as a resource for the team and shares with others in-depth knowledge and understanding of financial management best practices and tools for supporting these functions
  • Mentors team members to support financial management disciplines development
  • Plans, coordinates and trains support staff to ensure their understanding of National Practice initiatives and ensures that supporting standard practice operating procedures are implemented and followed in their areas of responsibility
  • Acts as Career Advisor and or provides input for Support Staff onshore and offshore 
    Supervises activities performed by supporting staff as it pertains to financial operations related activities 
  • Manages task assignments 
  • Reviews final work product on assigned tasks
  • Provides guidance to resources accordingly
  • Provides timely performance feedback through the appropriate channels

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, required; OR 
  • High school diploma or equivalent and eight (8) or more years work experience in a professional services environment, required

  • Five (5) or more years of financial operations related experience, required; within the professional s
