WSP is currently initiating a search for a Structures Technical Excellence Center (TEC) Lead for our Dallas, TX office. The Structures TEC Lead will focus on business development, marketing, and project pursuits that will help to further strengthen our presence in Texas markets. This person will provide leadership to a talented group of professionals spanning all career levels as they work on a multitude of transportation projects. The Structural TEC Lead will rely upon Bridge and Structural Engineering background to excel at client relations, business development and mentoring staff.

Your Impact

• Provide leadership, oversight, mentoring and overall management of the Structures Team 
• Leads growth and development of the Structures team, including interfacing with the Local Business Leader, meeting with clients to develop and expand work, and strategically teaming with other consultants.
• Performs a range of marketing and business development activities, including gathering client intelligence, leading pursuits and proposals, and interfacing through professional organizations.
• Manages tasks as part of project development, including plan and report production.
• Interfaces with staff from a range of other disciplines (traffic, civil, planning, geotechnical, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects.
• Improve overall quality and delivery of projects throughout discipline.
• Assists in supporting agency coordination, permitting, and public participation activities

The Structures TEC Lead must be able to excel in technical, business development, marketing, project management, and people leadership roles. Experience working in the Texas market areas is a plus!

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (M.S. in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred)
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in transportation and infrastructure projects 
• Minimum 5 years leading, managing and mentoring teams of Structural engineers and technicians 
• Demonstrated experience with State and local governments, contractors, transportation agencies and professional organizations 
• Strong history and experience with TxDOT projects and programs 
• Strong project management skills and experience
• Strong technical skills relevant to bridge/ structural design and analysis
• Working experience with marketing, business development, project pursuits, and proposal preparation
• Experience mentoring and developing technical capabilities of mid-level and junior staff
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong (proven) management and interpersonal skills
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Texas 
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures  
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies 
• Preference given to local candidates

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering
• Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.
