DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review complex policies to verify acceptability based upon company underwriting guidelines and granted underwriting authority.
- Determine whether to accept, modify, or decline risks.
- Utilize underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges.
- Review state laws, including cancellation and non-renewal, within assigned territory to properly transact business within the state.
- Consult with general agents to obtain further information, quote rates, or explain underwriting guidelines.
- Assist in the training of departmental personnel.
- Provide technical expertise to the Underwriting department in determining rate and product changes and during Product Line Reviews. .
- Create, analyze, and interpret data from various reports.
- Accountable and responsible for the performance of assigned underwriting territory, including growth and profitability.
- Manage assigned underwriting territory, including management of agents and travel to agent offices.
- Complete all assigned tasks according to department standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or three year to five years related insurance experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two to four years underwriting experience with authority
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Previous insurance educational work, IIA and CPCU desirable.
- Detail oriented with initiative and the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to travel (including pre and post trip preparations).
- Proficient in the use of computer programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.
Colorado Pay Range:$92,600—$124,900 USDPLEASE NOTE: At this time, Argo Group will not sponsor an applicant for employment authorization for this position.
