Distribution and Collection Specialist – Raw Water Pipeline Operations
Are you up for the challenge of being responsible for representing Colorado Springs Utilities as a Distribution and Collection Specialist? In this job, you will be responsible for helping our team safely operate, inspect, and maintain the raw water system and associated infrastructure.
Please note that the pay for this position is $38.73/hour followed by an increase to $40.67/hour after the completion of the probationary period.
What your day will look like:
- Operating, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting raw water systems, transmission pipelines, and valves
- Performing operational flow changes on raw water systems (e.g., diversions, intakes, pipelines)
- Supporting relief operations on Colorado Springs Utilities watersheds (e.g., reservoir levels, creek/stream flows, piezometers, seep weirs, pipelines)
- Coordinating system changes to comply with state and federal regulations (water quality, water rights, and public safety)
- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on raw water transmission pipelines, system equipment, reservoir dams, watersheds, remote properties, and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules
- Meeting dam inspection schedules and criteria
- Ensuring safe, efficient, and quality services and operations
- Performing remote locates and ensuring easement standards
- Performing preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on Colorado Springs Utilities watersheds and remote properties
- Performing preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on raw water pump stations
- Operations of raw water pump stations
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- Relevant and progressively responsible experience in operating and maintaining water systems
- Experience in groundskeeping is valued
- Knowledge of fundamental hydrology principles
- Ability to operate specialized equipment, vehicles, and hand tools
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required; CDL Class B or higher is valued
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred and the ability to obtain and maintain within one year of hire is required; we will provide the training/certification for your CDL.
- Must be able to obtain a State Water Certification 2 within two years of hire
