Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of food and beverage service operational procedures, sanitation practices, and state liquor laws as applied to food and beverage, as would be acquired through one to three years of similar experience in progressively responsible positions.
Responsibilities / Duties
Open and/or close dining room, grill, pub, banquet, or event areas, ensuring all spaces are clean, properly set, and accommodating at all times
Conduct or participate in pre-shift or pre-event meetings and communicate pertinent information regarding service, events, and daily operations
Assist in training, development, and monitoring of service staff and ensure proficiency in service techniques and operational procedures
Manage labor hours and maintain appropriate staffing levels based on business volume
Support and assist servers, bartenders, and banquet staff during high volume or event execution
Greet guests and/or circulate through dining and event spaces to ensure prompt, courteous, and professional service
Direct service staff and coordinate service flow to ensure timely attention to all guests, including newly seated tables or event attendees
Ensure all food and beverages are served according to menu specifications, standard operating procedures, or banquet event orders/contracts
Prepare and serve beverages, including wine service, in accordance with established standards
Use proper garnishes, china, glassware, and flatware for all food and beverage service
Ensure cleanliness and proper setup of dining rooms, banquet rooms, meeting spaces, and all related equipment, including audiovisual or presentation materials where applicable
Set up and break down tables, chairs, display tables, décor, and other equipment to support daily operations, reservations, or event plans
Maintain responsibility for guest checks, billing accuracy, and proper handling of cash, credit cards, and member charges according to standard procedures
Verify accuracy of charges and ensure proper posting to accounts, including obtaining authorization codes where required
Maintain appropriate inventory levels, including par stock control, requisition of supplies, and proper stock rotation
Ensure workstations are properly stocked and refilled at the beginning and end of each shift or event
Troubleshoot and make recommendations regarding performance issues related to staff, equipment, menus, or point-of-sale systems
Resolve member and guest complaints courteously, professionally, and promptly, and communicate feedback to management as appropriate
Ensure compliance with sanitation procedures and maintain cleanliness of all service, dining, and event areas in accordance with local ordinances
Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, including alcohol service (TIPS/RAMP)
Monitor guest alcohol consumption and notify management of any concerns, ensuring intoxicated guests are not served
Maintain continuous cleaning and upkeep of all service, pick-up, and drop-off areas
