Division Information
PACCAR's Information Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA, utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector.
The Role
This position is responsible for implementing security testing throughout the software-development lifecycle and will serve as the bridge between security and development, ensuring that applications are designed, developed, and deployed in a secure manner. An AppSec Engineer intern plays a role on the global security team that is responsible for the safeguard of PACCAR’s systems and applications from potential threats and breaches.
About the Team
As an Application Security intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside the Sr. Application Security Engineer. Together, you will be part of the Global Security group within the IT Division at PACCAR, spearheading initiatives and activities defined by PACCAR’s Application Security program. This team plays a crucial role in ensuring the protection of its systems and applications against potential cyber threats.

Job Responsibilities & Projects
- Execute web security assessments on websites, web applications, web services and APIs using Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) tools.
- Execute specific tasks within the scope of web application penetration testing
- Provides application vulnerability remediation guidance, and recommendations to developers and software engineers.
- Promote and evangelize AppSec initiatives by delivering brown bags and developer outreach activities such as secure coding tournaments.
Required Experience & Skills
- Familiarity in the usage of Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) tools such as OWASP ZAP and Burp Suite
- Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex systems or solutions effectively (i.e. explain what HTTP is to a non-technical associate)
- Communication Skills- Good verbal and written communication skills to document findings and report on security assessments.
- Attention to Detail - Keen eye for detail to identify potential security issues.
