Requirements
The Finance and Business Project Coordinator manages all aspects of finance and business operations with the goals of increasing efficiency, improving processes, and developing best practices, resulting in optimal service delivery to Main Campus constituents. The position receives assigned projects and performs any or all of the following activities:
Analyze and document business processes and recommend improvements.
Provide position support.
Develop detailed project plans for implementation.
Serve as project manager through completion.
The Finance and Business Project Coordinator has three main sets of responsibilities:
Financial Operations Management and Monitoring in Assigned Unit
Serve as the lead finance and business partner, executing all financial aspects of the assigned unit’s daily operations, with responsibilities including oversight of financial operations, management of actual financial performance, review and oversight of expenditures, and other activities directed by the manager.
Process Improvement
Analyze and suggest improvements in existing processes from conception through approval and implementation.
Administrative, Financial, and Programmatic Support to Office of the Provost and Provost Finance & Business Operations teams
Provide ongoing support to the general operations of the Office of the Provost and the Provost Finance & Business Operations teams.
Work Interactions
The Provost’s Finance and Business Operations Team, reporting to the Vice President and Chief Business Officer for Main Campus, provides guidance and support in the Finance and HCM operations to stakeholders across the main campus. As a valued internal finance and operations resource, the group possesses skills and expertise in financial analysis, business planning and operations that are leveraged for a wide-variety of needs. Specifically, this position interacts with key stakeholders from the Offices of the Provost, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer; University Information Services; and the finance teams of all Main Campus units.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in business or finance and accounting.
At least 3-5 years of proven experience in any combination of Finance and Business Operations, Business Process Analysis, and Project Management & Team Leadership, in particular, leading cross-functional matrix teams
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous complex projects
Experience in data analysis, benchmarking research, exploring creative solutions, leading change management efforts, and fostering collaboration
Analytical skill with the ability to think strategically
Strong time management, organizational, planning, and multitasking skills
Ability to independently manage a dynamic portfolio initiative with superior verbal and written communication skills
Strong MS Excel, process mapping, presentation and word processor skills; familiarity with the google suite, and Zoom
Knowledge of higher-education administration processes, practices and systems preferred
Quick learner around various software systems, including Cognos, Workday, and other systems that assigned units may use.
Adaptability and flexibility with attention to detail and the ability to triage and solve complex challenges and requests
Service orientation, professional demeanor, and a team orientation is required; i.e. avoiding “that’s not my job”
Ability to work well under pressure, in a high-paced environment
Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and multi-tasking to meet deadlines
Ability to think outside the box and to solve problems creatively
