Job Summary
The AVP will play a leadership role in driving Impact & Inclusions’ corporate governance functions that include but are not limited working with internal partners, including legal and government affairs teams, and external stakeholders, including our Corporate External Diversity Council and DEI Partners, on critical existing and emerging issues impacting DEI efforts; driving corporate wide DEI initiatives such as our internal DEI Speaker Series; and serving as a lead in administrative/program/planning management for the department. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- The role requires the understanding of Comcast’s Impact & Inclusion’s priorities including but not limited to; a holistic understanding of the DEI landscape and priority initiatives such as digital equity. The role will serve as a critical nexus between business leads and key external partners including the External Diversity Council. The role will also work closely with Government Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Human Resources Legal Teams, Compliance Teams, Investor Relations, Legal Regulatory, and Public Policy teams.
- Develop and execute strategic oversight of interfaces with Comcast Corporation’s External Diversity Council which is comprised of national leaders who serve as strategic advisors to the company on DEI efforts. The candidate must be able to manage a complex matrix of issues in the DEI space and be able to provide thought-leadership in driving agendas as well as flawlessly executing meetings and interactions.
- The role requires engagement with external partners working in the DEI community of practice to understand trend lines and externalities driven by associations, advocacy groups, and other third parties.
- The AVP will work closely with our legal teams and have an understanding of how to monitor and analyze relevant court proceedings, legislation, regulations, and policies, assessing their impact on DEI. This understanding will help foster the creation of plans and assessments of how changes in public policy or legal landscapes might impact the company's strategic direction within the DEI space.
- The AVP will work closely with our various Chief Diversity Officers and DEI teams across the enterprise to have an understanding of how to strategically drive initiatives and corporate-wide efforts and support their initiatives. This would include providing assessments of initiatives which proactively inform future goals and strategic partnerships.
- Provide communications support, where appropriate, for internal partners and business leaders.
- Engage with internal teams to identify rapid response opportunities/needs for fast-moving issues and opportunities across multiple stakeholders.
- Develop background materials for key stakeholders and flagship events like the DEI Speaker Series, which was designed to educate, inspire dialogue and foster employee engagement via scholars, thought leaders and expert speakers discussing a variety of DEI topics, for which the AVP will lead.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience (10-15 years) in management of complex matrix organizations as well as experience leading third-party engagement, coalition building, or a related role.
- Deep understanding of the media and technology industry.
- Experience with the DEI landscape and political process at the local, state and federal level with elected officials and how to effectively reach those audiences.
- Proven people management experience.
- Proven leadership skills in building and managing a diverse team. They should be dynamic, highly collaborative, creative, positive, and influential. They possess strong communication skills and represent Corporate DEI and Comcast well both internally and externally.
- Excellent presentation and writing skills with the ability to create concise strategic materials.
