As an Engineering Intern you will support an engineering organization focused on operational excellence, technical problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role provides hands-on exposure to real world engineering projects and the opportunity to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and cross functional teams to improve processes, tools, and outcomes.
This internship is designed for a college student with a STEM-related academic background who is eager to learn, contribute to improvement activities, and develop professional skills in a team-based engineering environment.
Internship Dates: June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026
What you’ll be responsible for
Engineering & Technical Support
- Assist engineers with data collection, analysis, and documentation for engineering and improvement initiatives
- Support engineering tasks such as process mapping, basic modeling, testing, validation, or performance tracking
- Help maintain technical documentation, drawings, standard work, or reports
Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, root cause analysis)
- Help identify process inefficiencies and assist in developing improvement recommendations
- Support implementation and tracking of improvement actions and metrics
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and support teams
- Participate in team meetings, project reviews, and improvement workshops
- Communicate findings, ideas, and progress clearly in both written and verbal formats
What’s required to be successful
- Currently enrolled in a 2year or 4year college or university program (1st–4th year student)
- Pursuing a degree in a Construction, Engineering, or Project Management
- Basic understanding of engineering or technical principles through coursework
- Strong interest in engineering, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
What’s required to be successful:
· Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related program
· Interest in water and wastewater infrastructure projects and project delivery
· Basic understanding of water and wastewater systems, or willingness to learn
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Familiarity with SharePoint, project management tools, and construction documents is an asset
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Ability to communicate effectively in a professional environment, both verbally and in writing
· Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative, learning‑focused mindset
