Founded on the steps of St. John’s Lutheran Church in 1985, Saint John’s Program for Real Change has helped more than 30,000 women and children transform their lives from poverty and dependence to confidence and self-sustainability. Dedicated to the eradication of homelessness once and for all, this up-to-18-month comprehensive residential program provides families with the tools they need to address the root causes as well as the symptoms of homelessness: mental health therapy, drug and alcohol counseling, life skills classes (anger management, parenting, budgeting, positive thinking, healthy relationships and more), a path to a high school diploma and Employment Training. The Female Community Reentry Program (FCRP) allows eligible offenders with serious and violent crimes committed to State prison to serve their sentence in the community at a FCRP as designated by the Department, in lieu of confinement in State prison and at the discretion of the Secretary. The FCRP will provide a range of rehabilitative services that assist with alcohol and drug recovery, employment, education, housing, family reunification, and social support.

Position Overview
TITLE FCRP SUD Counselor
SALARY From $56,000 To $67,000 Annually
CLASSIFICATION Full-Time, Non-Exempt
LOCATION On Site Only - Power Inn Rd. Sacramento, CA
SCHEDULE Monday- Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm (flexibility with hours)
About the Position…
This position will be responsible for substance use disorder/alcohol and other drug counseling and case management of participants enrolled in our FCRP program.
You’ll be responsible for…
- Utilizes intake and screening instruments including a gender-specific assessment of needs to obtain a complete medical history, history of substance abuse, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse/incest history, education level, work history, involvement with the legal system, and other pertinent service needs for each participant concerning their caseload.
- Develops an individualized treatment plan, representing a comprehensive continuum of care and addressing follow-up service needs to prevent relapse for each participant on their caseload.
- Maintains individual participant treatment files in accordance with agency policies and procedures, including treatment plan implementation and documentation of substance abuse counseling and case management activities, as well as all other pertinent documentation.
- Is responsible for participating in weekly case conference meetings.
- Coordinates any medical, disciplinary and program progress issues with Clinical Supervisor and Program Director.
- Delivers individual and group substance abuse counseling and educational services, as well as other gender-specific and trauma informed services.
- Facilitates a culturally competent environment along with therapeutic activities that promote cultural awareness, sensitivity, and support.
- Provide comprehensive relapse prevention counseling.
- Provide counseling to strengthen positive relationships and support systems with peers, family, and community.
- Conduct specialized classes and workshops around gender-related issues such as family relationships, codependency, and violence
