We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Staff Accountant.

This role will be responsible for day-to-day accounting activities.  Primary areas of responsibility will be assisting with fixed assets, supporting monthly general ledger close, maintaining assigned reconciliations and supporting the accounting department with data analytics, audit preparation, and process improvements.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with monthly GL close and maintain assigned account reconciliations.
    • Prepare month end journal entries.
    • Reconcile sub ledgers and maintain supporting files.
    • Perform daily and weekly cash reporting and reconciliation.
    • Monitor expense accounts and identify reclasses.
    • Conduct basic accounting research under supervision of the Accounting Manager in accordance with GAAP and IFRS standards.
    • Utilize data analytics and automation to improve processes in the department.
  • Responsible for supporting fixed asset accounting:
    • Maintain a system of controls, procedures, and forms for recording of fixed assets.
    • Track the compilation of project costs in CIP accounts, collaborate with operations personnel during final phase of capital projects, and close out those accounts on completion.
    • Investigate the potential obsolescence and/or impairment of fixed assets.
    • Conduct periodic physical observations and counts of fixed assets.
    • Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
  • Support Accounting Manager and the accounting department at large through impromptu reporting and special projects when requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

A suitable background would be solid experience within the following qualifications and experiences:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • Experience: This is an entry level position, however, prior experience in an accounting internship is strongly preferred. Understanding general ledger accounting and general knowledge of ERP accounting systems.
  • Proven Excel Skills and MS Office skills.
  • English language skills: Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English. Excellent English communication skills. both verbal and written.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, team members, and cross functional stakeholders.
  • Physical Demands: general office environment with occasional time in manufacturing area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General knowledge around fixed assets
  • General knowledge of ERP systems
  • Prior experience in an accounting internship is strongly preferred.
