The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering is seeking a Graduate Staff Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll support the PhD program and assist with Master’s programs as needed. You’ll be a key point of contact for graduate students, helping them navigate academic requirements, coordinate events, and manage data that supports student success.

You’ll work closely with the Senior Program Coordinator, Director of Doctoral Studies, and Director of Master’s Programs to ensure smooth operations and a supportive environment for our graduate students. Minimum Requirements:

  • Two years of postsecondary education.
  • Four years of clerical or research experience in administrative or project support roles.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for education and two years of experience.
  • OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in academic program coordination or student services.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with graduate education policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage data and generate reports using qualitative and quantitative methods.

 

Other Requirements:

  • This position is hybrid.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for events.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively across departments and with central offices.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the BME PhD program and assist with Master’s programs.
  • Advise students and staff on program policies and procedures.
  • Manage data related to student progress, alumni tracking, and program effectiveness.
  • Plan and execute social and educational events including orientations, retreats, and workshops.
  • Serve as liaison between students, faculty, and university offices such as Pratt Professional Programs and Duke Visa Services.

Anticipated Pay Range:

 

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $19.80 to USD $30.63.
