Animal Husbandry Assistant Operations Manager- Center for Comparative Medicine

The Animal Husbandry Assistant Operations Manager supervises a team of (20) full time husbandry lab technicians and coordinates/manages daily husbandry operations, including human resources responsibilities, training, supplies and inventory, facility inspections and metrics.

1. Trains new employees and visiting students. Evaluates personnel requirements for the facility, conducts training and evaluates employee performance/ conducts disciplinary activities as necessary.

2. Maintains husbandry equipment and service contracts.

3. Maintains husbandry supplies and inventory management of all facilities, including offsite storage.

4. Monitors work processes, policies and procedures for efficiency; develops and implements new policies and operating protocols.

5. Prepares metrics reports and records as required.

6. Participates in the development of the husbandry budget.

7. Maintains and reviews animal records.

8. Additional duties assigned or delegated.

• Associates degree (preferred), or equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience.
• 5+ years experience in a lab animal facility.
• Name: Certification by the American Association of Lab Animal Science (AALAS) required at the Lab Animal Technologist (LATG) level.     Issuing Agency: Associates degree in Veterinary Technology; Certified Manager of Animal Resources (CMAR)
