Requisition Summary
This position will be responsible for air, electric, and fluid routings focused engineering design, development and production support. Duties involve root cause analysis, problem definition, problem resolution and reporting of work to upper management.
Engineering projects may include new product development, current production design & support, field service & warranty, factory process improvements and service tool enhancements.
Additional tasks include completion of six sigma documentation in assigned phases of project and applying standard engineering techniques with minimal supervision, occasionally requiring independent evaluation.
The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with suppliers and other divisions within PACCAR: DAF, Kenworth, PACCAR Technical Center and the PACCAR Engine Company.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Identify and initiate routing designs of complex nature and conduct necessary research incidental to design.
- Complete design projects through the processes of planning, concept development, calculation and design analysis, design review, testing, evaluation, and implementation.
- Handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Manage supplier activities related to design and manufacture of components.
- Apply knowledge of stress analysis and FEA.
- Apply knowledge of various materials and manufacturing processes to positively influence designs.
- Apply knowledge and skills in Creo and Windchill functionality, particularly Creo cabling.
- Coordinate and complete projects and design efforts with other engineering groups and departments within the company as directed.

- Analyze data from warranty claims to support current and future designs.
- Apply a proactive hands-on approach to defining issues and reaching early resolution with consensus from all stakeholders.
- Identify, prioritize, and coordinate resolutions of production, process control and Quality Assurance issues as appropriate.
- Prepare engineering activity status reports and other detailed reporting as directed.
- Demonstrate professional and successful communication skills (verbal/written) with strong, effective interpersonal abilities.
- Act in a professional manner in all contact with external and internal customers.
- Travel may be required.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree is required. Hiring level will be determined by related experience and education.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck assembly, heavy truck components and systems is preferred.
- Previous Design experience with routings of electric harnessing or fluid hoses is heavily preferred.
- Previous Design experience with Creo Parametric is heavily preferred, particularly Creo Cabling software.
