Senior Software Engineer (Media Communications)

Customers like Airbnb, Viber, Whatsapp, Snapchat, and many others depend on our APIs and SDKs to connect with their customers all over the world.</p> <p>As businesses continue to shift to a real-time, customer-centric communications model, we are experiencing a time of impressive growth.</p> <p>We are looking for a Media Communications Software Engineer to join our Media Cloud Engineering teams to explore new ways to further enhance the Vonage <strong>Video Platform,</strong> our WebRTC-compliant Communications PaaS, with improved media communications, VoIP, quality and reliability optimization, and beyond. </p> <p>You will play a key role in shaping and advancing the roadmap in both feature development as well as systems engineering with a heavy focus on quality, fault-tolerance and reliability. You'll gain extensive hands-on experience with data-driven approaches to uncover insights while tracking and adopting industry-leading standards. A strong drive and motivation to see your work implemented in large-scale, highly available production systems are essential. You'll be part of an international team of highly experienced Software Engineers passionate about real-time communications, media, cloud infrastructure, and more.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Hands-on software development and system design.</li> <li>Implement new features, and push further media communications and Interoperability of the Video Vonage Communications Platform.</li> <li>Contribute to server and software architectures for real-time Media Streaming, WebRTC, VoIP, Media Interoperability, related systems engineering in the Cloud, accounting for interaction with auto-scaling, high availability, etc…</li> <li>Contribute to maintaining and evolving media processing software stacks including both proprietary and open-source software.</li> <li>Design and develop approaches to measure, evaluate and improve service quality.</li> <li>Working on multiple projects involving high-performance media servers and signaling and coordinating with other teams.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent.</li> <li>Experience with <strong>Media Communications</strong> software technology  For example, codecs, WebRTC, streaming, VoIP, SIP, media protocols, QoS/QoE, media processing,  and<strong> related industry open-source </strong>software.</li> <li><strong>C/C++</strong> coding skills, and a willingness to learn other languages.</li> <li>Working knowledge with <strong>Javascript</strong>.</li> <li>Experience working on backend and/or frontend software engineering.</li> <li>Excellent debugging and problem solving skills.</li> <li>Good understanding of <strong>algorithms</strong>, <strong>data structures</strong>, <strong>memory</strong> management, and <strong>concurrency</strong>.</li> <li>Track record of delivering high quality code in a fast-paced environment.</li> </ul> <p><strong>A plus, if you’re experienced with one or more of the following:</strong></p> <ul> <li> Cloud technologies such as AWS, <strong>Kubernetes</strong>, Helm, <strong>Docker</strong>.</li> <li>AI Agents and/or LLMs integration.</li> <li> AI Agents and/or LLMs integration.</li> <li>CI/CD in <strong>Jenkins</strong> or similar tools.</li> <li>Practical experience with <strong>media technologies</strong>: H.264/VP8/OPUS/AAC codecs, WebRTC standards, RTP/RTCP, STUN, TURN, ICE, VoIP, SIP, H.323, SDPs, audio/video processing, etc…</li> <li>Additional advanced <strong>JavaScript, HTML5</strong> and <strong>Web </strong>coding skills. <strong>#LI-JM1</strong></li> </ul>
