Summary

The Ocean Import Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the import of goods via ocean transport. This position manages a team of import professionals and ensures that import processes are executed in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of import professionals
  • Develop and implement import processes and procedures
  • Ensure that import processes are executed in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner
  • Coordinate with internal teams, such as logistics and customer service, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of goods
  • Maintain relationships with customers and partners
  • Analyze market trends and identify areas for process improvement
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws
  • Manage and oversee documentation for import shipments
  • Develop and implement training programs for the import team

 

Educational background / Work experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in ocean import operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Familiarity with import regulations, customs clearance procedures, and industry best practices.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient in using computer software programs related to logistics and supply chain management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities (if any)

  • Responsible for leading a team of ocean import coordinators.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with leading ocean cargo logistics software and systems
  • Familiarity with ocean freight regulations, customs requirements, and export controls
  • Knowledge of shipping routes and schedules

 

Language skills

  • Fluency in English is required
  • Knowledge of additional languages is a plus

 

 

Computer Literacy

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with logistics software and systems is required
