The Zillow Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Experience team is responsible for the development of novel models and experiences that strive to reinvent what it looks like to find and secure a home. Our goal is to reinvent home shopping through highly personalized, seamless experiences that are augmented with unique, rich media, insights, and action.

We build upon a foundation of quantitative and qualitative understanding of our customers to rapidly test, iterate, and launch customer experiences on the United States’ largest online real estate marketplace. Our team is staffed with applied scientists, engineers, designers, researchers and product managers, partnering closely with teams across Zillow to deliver highly tailored, trusted experiences for millions of customers.

About the role

Are you passionate about using the latest Multimodal AI to reinvent and radically simplify home shopping? We are seeking a highly experienced and technical Principal Product Manager to join our AI & Experiences team, focusing on growing Zillow's ability to observe and comprehend the world that surrounds home shopping (homes, neighborhoods, documents) through advanced multimodal AI.

At Zillow, we recognize that home shopping is inherently a multi-sensory experience. We are looking for a technical, visionary product thinker that can lead us through evolving our existing AI systems to build novel, scaled digital experiences that capture the richness of viewing a home and location in-person. This role will focus on advancing our capabilities across multiple modalities including: computer vision for property feature recognition and room classification, natural language understanding for property descriptions and user queries, multimodal fusion for richer property understanding, and document understanding and intelligence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Spearhead the strategic innovation and integration of multimodal and computer vision AI technologies across Zillow's customer-facing experiences, balancing brand-new innovation with practical deployment.

  • Identify and complete key opportunities for creative customer experiences, developing innovative methods for buyers & renters to gain deeper insights into homes and locations.

  • Develop and evolve our multimodal AI roadmap, ensuring alignment with both technical feasibility and customer value.

  • Work closely with applied scientists, machine learning engineers, designers, and researchers to use Zillow's extensive real estate dataset for training models and developing experiences.

  • Translate complex technical capabilities into valuable, high-impact user experiences, focusing on visual, textual, and spatial data streams.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver AI products from conception to production, ensuring robust model deployment, performance monitoring, and iterative improvements.

  • Drive responsible AI practices, addressing challenges around data privacy, bias mitigation, and fair housing compliance.

  • Stay informed about new technologies and industry trends to continuously push the team forward in innovative ways.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $186,700.00 - $298,300.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

This is a high-priority problem space, and the team needs an innovative, deeply technical, and self-starter Principal Product Manager who has experience with building complex, multimodal systems and solutions at scale.

  • 8+ years in a D2C/B2C product management role leading and testing AI products at scale (millions of customers), with at least 3+ years focused on multimodal AI systems spa
