Job Description

The role of the Data Center Business Development Director (BDD) for Large End-Users is to develop and manage professional relationships with the top 10 hyper scalers and colocation companies. The position requires a fair amount of mechanical and electrical infrastructure expertise and relevant market knowledge to generate leads and convert them to sales effectively.

The role of the BDD is to develop our data center business through networking, building relationships, identifying projects, and closing business opportunities in very close collaboration with the Regional Sales teams across the entire Danfoss business (Cooling, Heating, Fluid Conveyance, Drives, Electrification, and Fire Safety).  The objective of the BDD is to drive specifications and adoption of Danfoss product solutions delivering profitable growth. As the main Danfoss face towards the customer/clients, you will be responsible for establishing and managing all strategic relations focused on delivering greater value while increasing customer satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

•    Identify business opportunities worldwide, with a particular focus on North America.
•    Develop the relevant business plan in alignment with senior management.
•    Responsible for customer management to generate new leads, and to maintain professional and good relationship.
•    Drive and manage the sales process, with the Cross-Regional Sales team members, required to retain existing and win new businesses.
•    Represent Danfoss in OCP (Open Compute Project) and push Danfoss solutions for liquid cooling to end-users.
•    Subscribe to and participate in industry trade associations, expositions, conferences, and symposia. Leverage these associations for networking and relationship-building to improve influence and Danfoss brand awareness. 
•    Be an active member of the Danfoss data center community to improve our understanding of the vertical, to develop and promote the data center strategy.
•    Collect market intelligence, interpret and analyze customers’ requirements in detail, and prepare overviews for management and engineering teams.
•    Validate requirements and specification details with the bid owner and/or customer.
•    Support with design and engineering customer solution documents.
•    Lead the post-bid process to identify the reason for win/loss and define actions.
•    Create and maintain a tender database with frequently asked requirements to improve response times.

Background & Skills

•    Ability to quickly assess and understand the specific end user’s, challenges, and future needs. Have awareness of the competition, and other market influencers, as well as a general knowledge of the global marketplace for data centers. Frequent international coordination with stakeholders both within Danfoss and within the customer base.
•    2-5 years of relevant sales experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities support systems, and new business development demonstrating achievement of sales results with high revenue growth, profit, and customer satisfaction.
•    Negotiation training and experience including commercial contracts. Top-level influence and consensus-building skills, with strong oral/written communication /presentation and negotiation skills and very good consultative selling/ listening competencies; Adaptable to changing environments, meticulous, confident, persuasive, and flexible.
•    Degree in Business, Commerce, or Engineering.
•    Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
•    Solid understanding of P&L's main drivers and key financial metrics.
•    Proven leadership of large complex customer relationships.
•    Experience managing global projects, direct and/or virtual support staff, or programs with the ability to influence/lead without authority.
•    Self-starter yet a good team player, able to work with little supervision and with passion for the business and the Company’s future.
•    Strong multicultural communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels (internally and externally).
• Goal-oriented mindset – motivated to build a long-term strategic customer relationship delivering profitable growth.
•    Willingness to travel regionally and globally (25-50%)
