Frontend Software Engineer (Contract)

The role:

TeachFX is a growing, mission-driven startup creating an AI coach that helps teacher improve their instruction. We’re hiring a Frontend Software Engineer at TeachFX with expertise in React and React Native to rapidly iterate on new versions of our teacher experience.

Note: this is 6-month contract position. If it’s a good mutual fit, it can convert into a full-time position. Location can be remote, with a preference for SF Bay.

Exceptional candidates will also have:

• 5+ years of industry software engineering experience

• Expertise in rapid development in React, React Native

• Experience working at a startup, or a similar context where you're on a small team trying to accomplish big things, and strong prioritization skills and teamwork are key.

• An eye for clear and effective UI/UX design

• Experience designing clean and maintainable APIs

• Bonus points for experience with Django, Airflow, Docker, Expo, SQL, BigQuery, Data Studio, and other Google Cloud Platform services.

TeachFX is an AI coach that helps teachers improve their instruction.

Teachers in K-12 classrooms record audio while teaching a lesson, using their phone or computer. TeachFX processes the recording and sends teacher a insightful report that help them reflect on and improve their teaching practices. We also provide a summary, summary image, a word cloud, and transcript of the lesson.

TeachFX’s reports focus on teaching practices that encourage academic student discourse. Teachers become better at eliciting student talk by seeing how often they are speaking compared to students, asking more open-ended questions, and by learning to follow questions with the silent pauses often needed for “think time.” In contrast to most edtech tools, we aren’t just giving teachers data on what content to focus on. We’re improving how teachers teach, which creates more conversational, equitable classrooms, more engaged learning, and happier educators and principals.
