You must have a solid technical background with creative bench skills, the ability to manage projects from concept to execution, understand consumer research, and be able to work collaboratively across functions (technical and non-technical).

We seek a Scientist with background in food ingredient industry and experience in developing and reformulating food and beverage products from ideation to commercialization. The ideal candidate will have a technical background, creative bench skills, project management experience, and the ability to work collaboratively across all functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, conduct, and review laboratory or process experiments to develop new emulsions, delivery systems, and evaluate new ingredients or processes.
  • Apply knowledge of hydrocolloids, gums, starches, proteins, and other ingredients to improve beverage stability and texture.
  • Write detailed reports on analyses, experiments, and projects, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Prepare samples and sampling plans for various analyses, including chemical, physical, sensory, and microbiological.
  • Organize information to support senior management’s decision-making processes under tight timelines.
  • Utilize sensory and consumer testing techniques to influence test design and collaborate with the sensory team.
  • Manage vendor or supplier relationships to ensure compliance with company standards and quality requirements.
  • Protect confidential information from external sources and ensure it is not disclosed to unauthorized parties.
  • Develop quality standards and requirements to ensure product integrity and protect company trademarks.
  • Support customers by managing or resolving incidents, maintaining product integrity, and minimizing operational interruptions.
  • Conduct literature reviews to enhance laboratory knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment through troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, calibration, and repair.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience; advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in innovation or product development in the beverage industry.
  • Experience with food ingredient industry and beverage delivery systems is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of the product development process with strong attention to detail and creativity.
  • Proficiency in project management principles and tools to ensure successful project execution.
  • Knowledge and experience with key beverage ingredients and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with flavoring materials, the flavor industry, and related trade organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, formula/database systems, and basic organic chemistry.
  • Adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and knowledge of proprietary composition information protection.
