JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Mont Alto is seeking applicants for part-time job of Academic Advisor. Penn State Mont Alto has an opening for a part-time Academic Adviser to join the Advising Office. The adviser will follow standard principles and systems while performing the duties of the opening and will typically work under direct supervision while performing duties using established procedures. This is a part-time opportunity will be working up to 25 hours per week.
Job Duties
- Providing individual and group academic advising to students.
- Assisting students in navigating University policies, procedures, and program curriculum requirements, assisting with student degree progress, and supporting students through the exploratory process.
- Documenting and maintaining confidential advising notes and maintaining the confidentiality of student records.
- Monitoring, supporting, and assisting student academic progress through Academic Recovery efforts.
- Preparing, coordinating, and presenting Academic Advising workshops and programs that promote academic success for undergraduate students.
- Assisting in advising incoming new students during New Student Orientation.
- Collaborating with colleagues in the Division of Undergraduate Studies as needed to further student success goals.
- Contributing to committees and working groups for student success and retention.
- Serving as a resource for faculty academic advisers, faculty, and students.
- Participating in recruitment and retention activities, including meetings for prospective students/families.
- Assisting in maintaining an active digital presence for the Advising Office including web pages and social media accounts.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Occasional evening, weekend, and summer hours will be required.
Requirements and Qualifications
This opening requires a bachelor’s degree plus relevant experience, master’s degree preferred.
