About the role

Department Overview:

The Division of Enrollment Management (DEM) houses the Office of Undergraduate Admissions & Recruitment, Office of the Registrar, Office of Student Financial Aid, and the Student Success Through Applied Research (SSTAR) Lab. These offices provide the foundation of support and services for the academic infrastructure throughout the student lifecycle. The Division’s mission is to strategically strengthen the competitiveness of UW-Madison in achieving enrollment goals and to collaborate with campus partners to provide information and services to enhance student success.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management (OVPEM) provides administrative support to the Vice Provost as well as the aforementioned offices of DEM. This position will report to the Special Projects Manager within OVPEM.

Flexible schedule during office hours (8am-4pm M-F).

Qualifications:

Applicant must be:
● in good academic standing.
● available to begin working October 2024.
● able to work 8-15 hours/week.

Preference will be given to those:

who are eligible for Federal Work Study

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

● Adaptability and desire to learn new skills.
● Attention to detail.
● Ability to exercise judgment, take initiative, and seek solutions to problems and improvements, sometimes in the moment and/or in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
● Proficient writing and communication skills.
● Experience or familiarity using and managing software, such as e-mail systems, spreadsheets, word processing, and web design applications.
● Experience with Adobe Express, Canva or similar program preferred.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Special Projects Assistant will

● Provide support to the Strategic Initiatives Team on various special projects to advance the mission of DEM.
● Assist with planning and coordinating DEM events as well as providing on-site support as needed.
● Assist in the compilation and publication of monthly newsletter articles.
● Draft, edit, and publish content on a variety of divisional websites.
● Create and manage content for digital display boards.
● Work with Special Projects Manager to produce digital graphics and print materials.
● Perform research on a variety of different ad-hoc topics and projects.
● Provide administrative support on various special projects to support the mission of DEM.
● Serve on committees for the recruitment of full-time DEM team members as needed.
● Other duties as assigned.
