About the role

Job Description

Advance Auto Parts is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Manager to lead our Accounting AP and Cash functions. As the Manager, you will play a key role in collaborating with the AP operations, inventory, procurement, treasury, and other onshore/offshore teams to ensure all activities related to the AP and cash are accurately recorded and results are analyzed to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate effectively with the Accounts Payable operations, treasury and other teams to identify root causes and resolve issues. Foster strong working relationships across departments to ensure smooth operations. 
  • Participate in period close process, prepare and analyze accounts payable reports and cash fluctuations. Provide commentary where needed. 
  • Review and approve journal entries, run account analysis and period close exception reports.
  • Review periodic account reconciliations, along with detailed review and monitoring of items categorized as unidentified differences. 
  • Supervise and mentor accounts payable & cash accounting team. Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high levels of productivity and accuracy. 
  • Liaise with Store General Managers or Asset Protection Managers on cash variances and other cash related adjustments.
  • Identify and address financial risks related to accounts payable and cash functions.  
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. 
  • 7+ years of experience in general accounting with a focus on accounts payable and cash.
  • Experience working in a publicly traded company with offshore operations preferred.
  • Experience using Oracle or similar ERP.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. 
  • Experience in leading and developing teams.
