CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Surgical Technician 1 assists the surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying a sterile set-up for operations and passing items to doctors and nurses. The incumbent also assists in preparing and moving patients and in cleaning the operating room areas.
Sign-on Bonus $7,500
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
· Secures and prepares all supplies required for surgical intervention.
· Ensures the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in the operating room.
· Performs instrument counts prior to each procedure.
· Prepares patient skin for surgical treatment. Positions and re-positions patient during surgery.
· Helps monitor patient during surgery.
· Provides supportive care during the pre-operative phase.
· Performs scrub functions.
· Collects and labels specimens taken during surgical procedures.
· Follows all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
· Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
· Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
· Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
· Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
· Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
