Job Description

Join the legal frontline and champion the defense for both the insured and the Company! As an Early Career Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Attorney, you'll handle fraud related examinations under oath, no fault, lawsuits, arbitrations and/or trials. You'll provide vital counsel to Allstate claims partners and coordinate between legal teams. Stay ahead of the game by monitoring new laws and regulations, ensuring our strategies remain sharp. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct special investigation unit examinations under oath and prepare reports
  • Contacts clients to discuss their case and answer any questions
  • Review new file assignments, all documentary evidence and approve initial pleadings, propounds discovery, and develop strategy
  • Investigate and pursue subrogation litigation, as appropriate
  • Conduct settlements/dispositive proceedings (e.g., mediations, arbitrations, etc.)
  • Prepare and conduct court appearances (matter management conferences, hearings, status conferences, etc.)
  • Conduct depositions and examinations under oath and prepares summary documents
  • Prepares witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials including expert witnesses
  • Try and/or arbitrate cases and prepares motions and summary documents in liminie
  • Keep claim business partners updated on status (initial client contact, initial litigation plan, recurring contacts, strategy conferences, and pre-trial, etc.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.

Minimum Requirements

  • Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documents.
  • Demonstrates strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Capable of organizing case files, managing legal documents, and understanding the discovery process.
  • Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions.
  • Well-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct.
  • Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions.
  • Must be commutable distance to courthouses throughout the greater New York area.
