About the Department

The Section of Genetic Medicine continues to shape the future of personalized medicine with successful research programs focused on the quantitative genetic and genomic science. The Section provides extremely valuable collaborations with investigators in the Department of Medicine who are seeking to develop new and more powerful ways to identify genetic risk factors for common, complex disorders with almost immediate clinical application. The Section of Genetic Medicine conducts impactful investigations focused on quantitative genetics, systems biology and genomics, bioinformatics and computational biology.


Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide technical support for research projects investigating how genetic and non-genetic factors contribute to individual variation in immune responses. The focus of this position will be in cell culture work on primary cells and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Experience working with iPSC – in their generation and/or differentiation to particular cell types – is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and performing experiments.

  • Collects and maintains data and/or specimens.

  • Analyzes data.

  • Generates next generation sequencing data.

  • Maintains equipment and supplies.

  • Performs cell culture experiments.

  • Generates induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).

  • Differentiates iPSCs into macrophages.

  • Generates next generation sequencing data.

  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.

  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted.

Experience:

  • Previous research experience.

Preferred Competencies

  • Experience with cell culture and the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
