<p>We are looking for a talented School to Work – Engineering to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI</p><p> </p><p><span><strong>In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: </strong></span></p><ul><li><p><span><strong>Support successful vehicle and laboratory testing</strong> by assisting engineers and test technicians with test setup, execution, and troubleshooting, helping ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule.</span></p></li><li><p><span><strong>Provide accurate and organized test documentation</strong> by recording test setups, procedures, and results, enabling data-driven decisions and maintaining engineering traceability.</span></p></li><li><p><span><strong>Contribute to high-quality test results</strong> through proper instrumentation installation, verification, and monitoring, ensuring reliable data collection during testing activities.</span></p></li><li><p><span><strong>Improve operational efficiency</strong> by coordinating test part logistics and ensuring the right components, tools, and equipment are available when needed.</span></p></li><li><p><span><strong>Maintain compliance and equipment readiness</strong> by supporting asset management activities, calibration tracking, and documentation requirements that uphold quality standards.</span></p></li><li><p><span><strong>Analyze test data and identify trends</strong> using engineering fundamentals, Excel, and other analytical tools to help engineers evaluate performance and support product improvements.</span></p></li><li><p><span><strong>Promote a safe and organized laboratory environment</strong> by maintaining cleanliness, following safety procedures, and supporting a culture of workplace safety and professionalism.</span></p></li><li><p><span><strong>Apply mechanical and automotive knowledge in a hands-on setting</strong> to assemble test components, interpret engineering drawings, and support the development and validation of vehicle systems and products.</span></p></li></ul> <p><span><strong>To be successful in this role, you will need the following:</strong></span></p><p><span>• Strong attention to detail to accurately document test setups, record results, and ensure compliance with quality and calibration requirements.</span></p><p><span>• Hands-on mechanical aptitude to safely use tools, assemble test components, and follow engineering drawings during vehicle and laboratory test setups.</span></p><p><span>• Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret test data, identify trends, and support engineers in evaluating performance and test outcomes.</span></p><p><span>• Technical proficiency with engineering tools such as Excel, basic programming, and mathematics to organize, analyze, and report test information effectively.</span></p><p><span>• Knowledge of vehicles and vehicle systems to understand testing objectives, instrumentation requirements, and component functionality during test execution.</span></p><p><span>• A proactive, collaborative, and safety-focused mindset to maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, follow safety procedures, work effectively with engineers and technicians, and support efficient testing operations.</span></p> <div><div><div aria-labelledby="copilot-message-r62-title copilot-message-r62" aria-posinset="10" aria-setsize="10" name="[object Object]" role="article" tabindex="0"><div><p>The School-to-Work (STW) / Co-op Test Engineering role supports engineers and technicians in the setup, operation, and inspection of vehicle and mechanical laboratory tests. The role also involves analyzing test data, contributing to process improvements, and ensuring a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment.
