Staff Accountant

Location: Tampa, FL (hybrid)

 

Deepwatch is seeking a highly organized and goal-oriented professional to join our team as a Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate thrives on managing and completing task lists with precision while maintaining focus on achieving measurable goals. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent time management skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to drive results in a dynamic environment.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the payables process and balance sheet activity at Deepwatch. The Staff Accountant will administer the existing payment system, maintain our vendor list, and assist with monthly close activities.  Additionally, the role will be responsible for monitoring employee expense reports. The Staff Accountant must understand the core competencies of accrual accounting to effectively and efficiently perform their job duties.

 

In this role, you’ll get to:

• Manage the company’s accounts payable cycle, which includes processing invoices, tracking invoices against agreements, and communicating with the vendor as needed
• Maintain the 1099 database in Netsuite, communicate with vendors as necessary, and prepare the annual filing
• Manage Expensify, which is used to process purchasing card and employee expense reporting; this includes managing user and approver structure, troubleshooting operational issues that arise, ensuring purchase card documentation is complete and processed timely
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations such as cash, prepaids, other assets, and accrued expenses
• Maintain the fixed asset database, which includes fixed asset uploads, disposals, and depreciation
• Assist with documentation for the annual audit
• Perform other duties as assigned

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• A Bachelor's Degree is required, in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years of accrual accounting experience
• To possess knowledge and understanding of accrual accounting
• Utilize effective research and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail
• Leverage excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
• Prioritize the workload effectively, handle a fast-paced environment, and meet a five-day close cycle
• Possess a complete understanding of Accounts Payable and its impact on other functions within the Accounting Department
