About the role

Job Overview 

The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute (MCRI) is an internationally known institute with several principal investigators studying diverse topics of molecular medicine. The fellow will work closely with the principal investigator, his lab, and other members of this dynamic research institute.

The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, invites post-doctoral applications for a position to study autophagy and apoptosis in cardiomyopathy and heart failure in the laboratory of Dr. Howard Chen. A highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow is sought, ideally with prior experience in molecular biology or related disciplines, to develop novel therapeutic strategies in cardio-oncology and cardiomyopathies. The Chen Laboratory utilizes a myriad of cross-disciplinary approaches in its research, including: in vitro cell-based assays, intravital microscopy, flow cytometry, state-of-the-art in vivo molecular imaging, cardiovascular and cancer murine disease models, cardiac function analysis, metabolism, multi-omics and signaling studies, extracellular vesicles, pharmacology, nanoparticle probes. The lab’s long-term goal is to translate the molecular insights gained from the bench to improve cardiovascular and human health. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator on research projects and as needed, will be required to independently develop protocols and establish new methodologies in the laboratory. The applicant would be intimately involved in writing and presenting new discoveries. The position requires:

Minimum Qualifications: 

1. PhD, MD/PhD or MD (with prior lab-based experience)  

2. Prior experience in molecular and cellular biology, animal physiology, or molecular imaging, is desirable. 

3. Excellent writing and communications skills

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. Record of publication in relevant field of study.

7. Assists in securing research funding by contributing to grant writing and research proposal development. 

8. Collaborates with healthcare professionals and institutions to collect clinical data and samples for research purposes. 

9. Contributes to the development and validation of new diagnostic tools, treatments, and interventions. 

10. Participates in the preparation of research reports, progress updates, and grant applications.
