Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visual and hands on inspection of welded product to blueprint, specific code, standard or document, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  •  Attention to detail, organization, and the ability to communicate findings to team members in a professional manner required.
  • Ensure effective communication with the Weld Process Quality Engineer and Weld Engineer, daily report out required.
  • Identify any discontinuities / non-conformities and update records / reports with findings. 
  • Ensure that all rework identified has been corrected to company standards prior to releasing product.
  • Weld Inspector will on occasion be required to assist with 3D dimensional inspection, as well as routine audits of the weld process.
  • Comply with KION North America safety policies and regulations.
  • Become familiar with KION’s work norms and industry standards.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems and engineering drawings / blueprints
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a quality system
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Weld Inspection and inspection techniques
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in handheld metrology tools, e.g., calipers
  • Additional classroom and on-the-job training will be provided to become a KION Welding Inspection Specialist (WIS)
  • PREFERRED: Knowledge of AWS and ASME codes and ISO standards; computer skills a plus

Education:

  • HS diploma or equivalent required
  • Any weld inspection and non-destructive testing training courses completed a plus, e.g., Magnetic Particle or Penetrant Testing
