Job Overview
Traffic Instrumentation & Control Technician performs calibration, programming, installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic equipment and various instrumentation, control systems, and process equipment used in the traffic control devices, street lighting, and traffic related communications operations setting. Assists, completes, and/or leads crews responsible for performing a broad range of electronic tasks in accordance with the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) standards, traffic control devices and electronics trade practices.

The Traffic Signals Technician position is a challenging and rewarding opportunity within Hillsborough County. This position provides opportunities for learning and growth within Traffic Operations. This includes potential training opportunities provided at the County’s expense as well as overtime possibilities. The Traffic Signals Technician is responsible for the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices. The ideal candidate should be capable of performing work that involves assembling, installing, servicing, testing, repairing and adjusting electrical and mechanical components of traffic signal and related equipment.
Selected candidates may be hired at higher tier levels/pay provided they meet the minimum requirements.

Min $61,796.80 annually

Job Distinctions
Entry level technician job. Assists with installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic equipment and various instrumentation and control systems related to traffic control devices. Possession of IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level I Certification within six months of hire.
Job Distinctions
Intermediate level technician. Possession of IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level II Certification (Field or Bench) (within six months for new hire).
Qualified to perform on-call duties as determined by journeyman/lead workers (within six months for new hires).
Job Distinctions
Journeyman/Lead worker. Possession of IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level III Certification (Field or Bench) within six months for new hires. Must possess requirements in Tier 2 Job Distinction Section.
