Project Overview:
Bechtel’s commitment to renewables and clean energy is driving the delivery of transformative projects for our customers. Our renewables team will manage the project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup, for the Mammoth South, Central I, and Central II solar projects. Each project will generate 376 MW DC, totalling 1.1 GW DC, in Pulaski County, Indiana.
Job Summary:
The Field Engineer - CSA - Solar is responsible for overseeing the civil construction activities of a solar farm project. This includes tasks such as piling, equipment foundations, earthwork, roadway construction, stormwater management, and structural work. In this role, you will provide comprehensive project field engineering support, including work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing, and coordination of system turnover. Your efforts will ensure that field engineering activities are conducted safely, completed on time, and meet quality standards and project requirements. #LI-SP1
Major Responsibilities:
Work Planning & Packaging
- Coordinates the preparation of construction drawings, sketches, projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements
- Contributes to planning construction methods and procedures.
- Coordinate with other discipline superintendents and field engineers for interface coordination of construction work activities and plans.
Material Management
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
- Prepares quantity take-offs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Reviews material receiving reports and performs material receiving inspections.
Quantities
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Perform quality control inspections and manage associated Inspection and Test Records (ITRs).
- Ensure completed work packages and ITRs are submitted to Turnover.
Technical
- Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
- Be able to read and interpret design information including temporary facility drawings, grading and underground commodity drawings and pile layouts.
- Inspect quality of field installed commodities and ensure installation is in accordance with design documentation. Use GIS and Smart Completions tools to plan and document quality verifications.
- Completion of quality documentation in automation tool through construction and system turnover. Complete Inspection Installation and Test Records for piling and other civil works.
