Summary of Role:

Reporting to the Vice President of the Communications Infrastructure and Datacenter End Market at GLOBALFOUNDRIES, the Director Wireless Infrastructure will have subject matter expertise in 
1.    Cellular infrastructure including 3GPP standards
2.    Satellite communications infrastructure including emerging low earth orbit (LEO) systems from Starlink, Amazon, OneWeb and IRIS2
The Wireless Infrastructure Business Line targets wireless infrastructure applications Communications Infrastructure and Datacenter end market such as cellular infrastructure and commercial satellite communications. Evolving communications standards require deep domain and thought leadership to help GF develop winning platforms for these markets. This position will provide thought leadership for GF and complex multiyear business negotiations with customers.

Essential responsibilities include:

• Understand market dynamics and requirements for Wireless Communications Infrastructure including cellular infrastructure and commercial satellite communications.

• Develop customer engagements in partnership with the GLOBALFOUNDRIES Sales organization to understand client’s products, product roadmaps and corresponding technology needs.

• Identify the GLOBALFOUNDRIES solution including technology platform, differentiating feature(s) and design IP that best serves a customer’s needs and drive adoption.

• Define the market requirements for new technology features and design IP to be developed in accordance with market needs.

• Drive the business case including scope, schedule, resources, demand and pricing model to deliver a technology solution at returns consistent with GLOBALFOUNDRIES growth objectives.

• Drive ownership and accountability in responsible organizations such as Sales, Design Enablement, Manufacturing Fab and Supply Chain to deliver to market needs.

• Create and deploy compelling presentation collateral to articulate the value of GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ solutions to the customer and end-users to drive adoption.

• Drive design win targets and create detailed plans to achieve them.

• Create a sense of urgency and drive clarity across multi-functional teams to achieve business objectives. Identify issues and address them head-on using data to move complex multi-site programs forward.

• Develop strategic relationships with customers and eco-system partners to achieve success across a 5+ year horizon.

• Serve as a champion of GLOBALFOUNDRIES technology solutions with strong external presence at technology conferences, trade shows, webinars etc.
   

Other Responsibilities:

• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
   

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

• 7+ Years of Experience in either cellular infrastructure or satellite communications in either a communications infrastructure product company or semiconductor product company

• Knowledge of communications architecture including antenna, RF front-end, transceiver, baseband and applications processing.

• The individual will need to possess broad technical and business skills to be successful in the role

• Travel Requirements: 25% of travel.
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

• Deep domain expertise in wireless communications protocols including 3GPP, open radio access network (RAN) and emerging satellite communications protocols

• Deep domain expertise wireless communications infrastructure hardware including remote radio head / remote units

• Experience designing communications circuits including antenna design, RF front-end design or RF transceiver design

• Language: Fluency in a second language to support high growth markets

Expected Salary Range

$151,500.00 - $321,000.00
