Senior Director R&D AzurionEyeJob Description
As Senior Director R&D AzurionEye, you will join the founding team of a new category within IGT-Systems. Reporting to the category leader, you will convert business intent and a validated pre-clinical prototype into a structured development program, aiming to launch AzurionEye products within three years.
This role involves managing the budget, recruiting and leading a new software and AI R&D team, establishing processes, and collaborating closely with product management, quality, regulatory, and other key stakeholders.
You will also drive the make/buy strategy for AzurionEye’s software and AI components, ensuring effective partnerships with outsourced development teams.
Your role:
Creating the innovation roadmap, programming and project structure for the category
Budget responsibility for about 30M innovation investments annually
Building and leading an internal SW R&D team of 80 FTE and in addition leveraging a large, outsourced R&D workforce
Creating a strategic 3-year plan for R&D Excellence and quality by design
Driving SW excellence and (together with the Q department) the development quality for the AzurionEye category
Organizing the cross-functional collaboration and innovation project execution in the category
Collaborate with the IGT-D, CI and IGT-S Azurion on the realization of an integral roadmap
Developing a professional network among similar organizations in and outside Philips
Working in close relation with Q&R, Product Management, Integrated Supply Chain, Services & Solutions Delivery
Understanding external factors including Quality, Regulatory, Customers, Competition, and Industry trends
You're the right fit if:
Master’s degree in engineering or science
10+ years’ experience in the medical device industry. Background in imaging systems a plus
5+ years of global leadership experience
Demonstrated expertise in portfolio and program management
Demonstrated experience in budget ownership for innovation/R&D
Demonstrated experience in leading a large development organization (managing managers)
Demonstrated experience in product development in a business environment, including FDA/EU-MDR design controls and regulatory pathways
Demonstrated experience in SW development and AI
Business acumen and ability to work in a cross-functional category leadership team
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with peers and other functions
Ability to develop technical and clinical understanding of Image Guided Therapy Systems
Ability to work in a global environment
Strong people leadership skills, including conflict resolution, assertiveness, negotiation, change and influence management.
