About the role

Provides independent judgment to assess, treat, and educate patients of all ages, to ensure their optimal nutritional status in acute, sub-acute and/or outpatient settings. Coordinates care with other disciplines. Maintains and demonstrates competencies in clinical practice standards through participation in professional committees, organizations and education. Nutrition Services is focused on Service Excellence. A Dietetic Intern Graduate (DIG) working under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian must have all notes co-signed.

Education – Registered Dietitian completion of didactic program AFTER 1/1/24- Master’s degree required with a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or related field.

Registered Dietitian completion of didactic program BEFORE 1/1/24- Bachelor’s degree required in Dietetics, Nutrition or Related field. 

 Experience – Clinical experience in acute care medical center preferred.  Must be able to function as staff clinical dietitian without additional training other than general orientation.  Previous EHR experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification – Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Licensed by the State of Maryland (Temporary exemptions apply as stated in Article 5-301 Health Occupations Article Annotated Code of Maryland.) Must successfully pass CDR exam and obtain Maryland license preferably within six months of hire date, mandatory by 12 months of hire date.  If participating on the Nutrition Support Team, C.N.S.C. certification preferred but will accept 5+ yrs of acute critical care experience.

 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their families, physicians, medical center personnel, and others. Ability to use computer to process nutrition reports and retrieve patient data. Membership in the AND or other equivalent professional organization is encouraged.
