Associate Principal Scientist, Device Digital & Data Solutions

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled, technical and strategic Associate Principal Scientist of Digital & Data Technology with a strong background in digital/data automation to support the Device Development & Technology (DD&T) organization within the Pharmaceutical Sciences and Global Clinical Supply (GCS) global organization. This role is critical in looking for opportunities to enhance data utilization and the efficient management of data across the organization, including compliance with regulatory standards, and the optimization of laboratory operations and workflows via digital solutions. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced digital & data solutions, automation technologies, and data analytics to enhance data utilization and compliance, streamline processes, and improve overall operational efficiency in laboratory workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement digital strategies to ensure high-quality, compliant, and actionable data flows across DD&T and supply chain operations.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements in inventory management, business process improvements, emphasizing the use of digital technologies and application of automation to DD&T process workflows to enhance accuracy and reduce lead times.

• In collaboration with DD&T staff and our Company's Research & Development Division finance, manage DD&T financial stewardship such as capital forecasts, manufacturing and non-manufacturing forecasts, lab supply spend, and tracking performance against forecasts.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance andregulatory affairs, and operations, to aligndata management initiatives with overall business objectives and compliance requirements.

Automation & Digital Technologies Implementation

• Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of inventory management systems (IMS) and automated solutions specific to DD&T assets.

• Integrate current enterprise level project management tools and organizational level platforms to centralize information and supply chain logistics.

• Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions in compliance and regulatory ISO-13485 standards.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, translating complex digital solutions and inventory strategies into actionable plans and benefits DD&T lab operations.

• Collaborate across DD&T sub-functions, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, Pharmaceutical Operations, Analytical R&D, and ITa teams to build and operationalize digital platforms and solutions that meet ISO-13845 standards and regulatory requirements.

• Build and maintain relationships with technology partners and vendors to explore new solutions and enhancements for inventory management in GMP and non-GMP warehouse and lab spaces.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Ph.D. most preferred.

• 7+ years of experience in digital technology implementation within GMP and non-GMP environments, with a proven track record of leadership in a similar role.

• Strong understanding of inventory management systems (IMS), automation technologies, and regulatory requirements specific to storage and pharmaceutical industries.

• Experience with dashboarding platforms and solutions (i.e. python, power BI, SQL, spotfire, etc.)

• Experience with integrating data capture platforms and mining unstructured data for insights and data-driven decision making.Proficiency in digital technologies such as data analytics, asset tracking, inventory platforms and hardware.

• Experience with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Agile, Scrum) for technology implementation.
