About this Role

We are seeking a visionary Head of Engineering to lead this transformation. This is a rare opportunity to build and guide a high-performing team, with a goal of significantly accelerating Sprig's growth and solidifying our position as a market leader. You will be instrumental in making our AI vision a reality, and building a future where Sprig proactively surfaces insights and integrates with other AI platforms to create a self-iterating product experience. You'll be reporting directly to the CEO and working alongside a talented leadership team that values a people-first culture.

As our Head of Engineering, you will be a hands-on leader, eager to tackle complex technical challenges alongside your team while also providing strategic direction. You will be responsible for scaling our architecture, building the technical foundation for our AI ambitions, and fostering a culture of high-velocity, high-quality feature development. You will be developing career paths for engineers and managers, while helping to build a strong in-office culture in our San Francisco office.

This role is based in-office in San Francisco with the flexibility to work remotely 1-2 days per week.

Your Impact

  • Define and execute our product strategy: Collaborate with executive leadership to define the technology roadmap and strategic initiatives of the company. Drive the exploration and implementation of new technologies and ways to enhance current product offerings.

  • Project and resource management: Manage engineering resources, including hiring, training, career development, and performance. Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.

  • Provide acute technical oversight: Oversee all aspects of the engineering process, from architecture and design to implementation and maintenance.

  • Focus on quality assurance: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, enterprise-grade, and best-in-class features or solutions that meet customer needs. Ensure the delivery of a scalable and maintainable product. 

  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering team: Recruit, onboard, coach, and motivate the engineering managers and individual contributors, and collaborate closely with other members in our Engineering, Product, and Design functions. 

Your Strengths

  • 12+ years of engineering experience, preferably in SaaS platform software 

  • 4-6 years of experience managing an engineering team

  • Entrepreneurial spirit - Must be a self-starter with a strong desire to learn and grow, preferably with experience working in a growth stage (Series A to Series D) startup environment

  • Category experience managing B2B accounts with a digital presence (web, app, mobile)

  • Ability to align the team on identified metrics

  • Strong work ethic and competitive mindset - You’ll work hard and motivate your team to do the same, bringing out their full potential.

  • Adaptability - You understand that change is constant and you embrace it, you move quickly, and you encourage continued improvement
