This role will participate, lead and coordinate efforts for the Trauma Injury Prevention program in the Mayo Clinic Health System sites in WI.

The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, patient education, and discharge planning. The RN provides nursing care to patients and their significant others using an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care. The RN uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care for assigned patients from admission through discharge. The RN provides leadership in various roles that include, but are not limited to preceptor role, lead/charge nurse, and committee member. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses provide a basis for practice. The Trauma Injury Prevention coordinator position is a community outreach position. The individual will be responsible for all aspects of trauma injury prevention following guideline established by the American College of Surgeons. Responsibilities will be to build public presentations, present public presentations, train/supervise teams during large injury prevention projects, and coordinate a large variety of injury prevention projects.
Graduate of an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited associate's degree or diploma program. Exceptions to this may be made in the MCHS sites prior to a law change requiring accreditation expected in 2018. If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN, at least one year of RN experience (within the last 5 years) in an applicable care setting is required. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is also required.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date after September 1, 2013, must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within 6 years from the last day of the month of their RN start date.
Additional qualifications:
Bachelors of Science - Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited university preferred. 5 years Nursing experience and public speaking experience preferred. Flexibility (Works flexible hours, which include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends). Basic computer skills. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Leadership, problem solving, verbal and written communication, and team building. Basic improvement concepts and techniques. Same day travel required. Basic sound equipment skills.
License or certification:
Active Wisconsin RN license or ability to practice professional nursing in the state of Wisconsin. Current BLS Certification.
