Roles and responsibilities

  • As a Process Engineering Intern for the Optics Polishing / CNC Milling, you will expect to perform a variety of engineering tasks including designing, developing and testing solutions; analyzing data; and troubleshooting production problems. You will also participate on projects to continuously improve processes that support optical manufacturing. ​
  • Contribute to the optimization of production the Optics Polishing / CNC Milling.
  • Design experiments focused on identifying root cause of existing production problems.
  • Perform statistical analysis of process data in addition to any experimental data used for troubleshooting.
  • Investigate deficiencies within production processes, with the intended focus of improving process controls.
  • Draft robust production procedures, documenting manufacturable processes in the form of a work instruction.

Education and experience

  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical degree.

Other information

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role within Office 

Responsibilities: 

  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus. 
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. 
  • May require local travel dependent on business needs. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 


Role within the Factory

Responsibilities:

  • Must be willing to work in a fabrication environment, wearing safety shoes, face mask, nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
  • Operating/working around overhead cranes, polishing, CNC Milling and grinding machines.
  • Working around lasers; working on platforms; and working around chemicals.
