The University of Miami Health System will soon open the second phase to our state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160,000 square foot expansion will continue to bring world-class academic medicine, cutting-edge technology, and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community. UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, as well as specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative, specialized medical services in the heart of their community. Once complete, UHealth at Doral will have 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and supporting ancillary services like imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy. UHealth at Doral will open in September, 2024.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The University of Miami Health System at Sylvester Cancer Center in Miami has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Massage Therapist to work in Miami. The incumbent performs massage therapy techniques to control pain, reduce stress, and promote relaxation for clients in assigned healthcare facility. Additionally, the incumbent obtains a client's basic medical history, assesses their problems and conditions, and suggests appropriate massage techniques based on their current health.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Administers table and chair massages for patients, pre-treatment, and post-treatment.
Works in a variety of settings, such as outpatient, inpatient, and infusion areas.
Manages inventories and treatment areas. Interviews patients to gather medical information, assessing clients' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.
Administers therapy treatments to patients using hands or physical aids, massaging muscles and soft tissues of the body to provide treatment for medical conditions or injuries.
Prepares and blends various oils and applies the blends to clients' skins.
Confers with clients about their medical histories and problems with stress or pain to determine how massage will be most helpful.
Provides clients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement, stretching, strengthening, relaxation, and rehabilitation.
Orients patients on proper use of medical equipment and explains medical procedures.
Documents treatment in patients’ medical records.
Consults with other health care professionals, such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, physicians, and psychologists to develop a treatment plan.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Licensed by the Florida Department of Health. With massage license in good standing.
Certifications in Oncology Massage and Manuel Lymphatic Drainage.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
