Our team of highly-motivated, customer-focused engineers’ partner with Boeing Defense, Space, and Security programs to help develop and maintain a culture of first-time quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). As a member of this team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the right processes are used for developing,

controlling, and verifying software products – whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background in software development practices, tools, and processes combined with a passion for advocating First Time Quality strategies. Experience with Agile and knowledge of quality standards is strongly preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are crucial for success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines and maintains program level software quality engineering processes, resources, and infrastructure
  • Actively participates in program activities, from initial proposal and planning to verification/certification and delivery
  • Performs process and product audits to verify software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes, plans, and standards
  • Supports program milestone and formal review meetings, occasionally preparing and presenting information
  • Verifies that software testing is done to meet software requirements
  • Performs final reconciliation of software data products
  • Identifies process or product non-compliances; supports root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and other defect investigation/prevention activities
  • Teams with equipment managers of supplier products to monitor and evaluate supplier software development performance
  • Mentors less experienced engineers in Software Quality Engineering best practices and requirements
  • Acts as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer, highlighting potential best practices on the team, as well as areas for improvement
  • Supports the identification and analysis of program/project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risk

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years experience working as a Software Quality Engineer

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience supporting NASA space projects
  • Software Quality Engineering experience supporting software with AS9100, and/or NASA-STD 8739.8 requirements
  • Involvement with products developed using Agile software development practices

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
