About the role
PLACE OF WORK: Room Service area, Guest Rooms, Kitchen areas.
JOB OVERVIEW: Delivers food and beverage orders to guest rooms according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Also assists in the maintenance of the Room Service area and equipment.
REPORTS TO: Room Service Manager, Captain and/or Outlets Manager.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Intern: Room Service Staff, Bar Staff, Kitchen/Stewarding Staff, Restaurant Staff, Engineering, Housekeeping Staff, Front Desk Staff, Sales Department.
External: Hotel Guests and Visitors.

Qualifications:
Essentials
- Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
- Ability to provide legible communication.
- Previous F&B experience
Desirable:
- High school graduate, some college
- Experience in Room Service.
- Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service
- Certification in alcohol awareness program
- Food handling certification
- Fluency in a foreign language, preferably Spanish or French.
Skills:
Essential:
- Ability to understand guests' service needs.
- Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service to 2 guest rooms within any given period of time.
- Ability to focus on details.
- Ability to maintain good coordination while serving orders quickly.
- Ability to exert physical effort in transporting trays and tables from service area to guests.
- Ability to endure abundant physical movements throughout the work areas.
- Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision
- Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in Room Service.
- Maintain knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.
- Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for drinks.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, preparation method, ingredients, sauces, preparation time, garnishes, presentation and prices.
- Maintain complete knowledge of guest room layout, locations and room numbers/names.
- Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment, use equipment only as intended.
- Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures.
