Description
The Accounting & Finance Manager is responsible for managing the Company's accounting and financial reporting functions, including general ledger activity, financial statements, internal controls, budgeting and forecasting, manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, payroll accounting, tax compliance, audit coordination, financial analysis, and financial reporting through the Company's SAP ERP system.
This position works closely with the Chief Operating Officer and executive management to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain effective accounting controls, support regulatory compliance, and provide financial information and analysis to support operational and strategic business decisions. The position will also play a key role in establishing and improving financial processes, including the Company's annual budgeting process, monthly forecasting and reporting, manufacturing cost and profitability analysis, and standardized monthly financial close
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
· Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy, completeness of financial accounting, and appropriate classification of financial transactions.
· Serve as a key Finance user of the Company's SAP ERP system and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial, inventory, purchasing, sales, costing, and manufacturing information flowing through the system and into the general ledger.
· Identify opportunities to improve the use of SAP for accounting, financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory management, budgeting, and management reporting.
· Manage accounting activities including cash receipts, cash disbursements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related journal entries, accruals, and other general ledger entries.
· Manage payroll accounting, payroll reconciliations, payroll accruals, and related financial controls in coordination with Human Resources and the Company's payroll provider.
· Support the Company's transition to a standardized payroll schedule and ensure payroll is properly incorporated into the Company's monthly accounting and financial close processes.
· Perform and review monthly account reconciliations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, bank accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
· Establish and maintain a disciplined monthly financial close calendar, including timely completion of journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, inventory and cost accounting, financial statements, and management reporting.
· Establish, document, maintain, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard Company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
· Develop, implement, and manage the Company's annual budgeting process, including departmental operating budgets, revenue, labor, material costs, manufacturing overhead, capital expenditures, and cash flow.
· Develop and maintain periodic financial forecasts and rolling outlooks for revenue, profitability, cash flow, and working-capital requirements.
· Prepare monthly budget-to-actual reporting, investigate significant variances, and work with department leaders to understand and address performance against budget.
· Prepare cash flow reports and forecasts and actively monitor cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and other working-capital components to identify trends, cash requirements, and opportunities to improve working-capital efficiency.
· Ensure financial statements and accounting records are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable financial reporting requirements.
· Coordinate with external auditors and provide schedules, documentation, reconciliations, and other information required for the annual audit.
· Support tax planning and coordinate the preparation and filing of applicable federal, state, and local corporate tax returns and other required tax filings.
· Develop and maintain accurate manufacturing and product cost accounting, including direct materials, direct labor, manufacturing overhead, work-in-process, finished goods, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold.
