Job Description

The Field Operations Engineer with be responsible for day-to-day field and technical repair operations of Nauticus equipment. The candidate for this position will be based at our Headquarters and will support internal testing and external, customer facing projects in the field as necessary.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

•    Maintenance and repair of Nauticus robotic systems 
      o    Mechanical and electrical system troubleshooting
      o    Repair of electro-mechanical systems at the direction of senior field leadership
•    General maintenance tasks in the shop and field site
      •     Charging of Nauticus robots
•    Maintenance of Nauticus support equipment, including
      o    Support vehicles
      o    Support vessels
•    Track and support Ocean going Nauticus robots offshore
      o    Small vessel operations – pilot RHIB and vessels under 20ft in support of                                local testing operations
      o    Maritime operations – Serve as crew onboard Hydronaut class vessels, launch                        and recover Aquanaut and derivative systems and conduct operations with                              ToolKITT powered small robotic systems
•    Repair and maintenance of Olympic Arm systems
      o    Serve as a field service representative after training and alongside more                                  senior mission services staff
•    Procedure development and improvement – We believe in standardizing our operations         and you should to.

Qualifications

Required

  • Some maritime experience (does not have to be professional)
  • Electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair
  • Demonstrated self-starter
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Ability to travel within the US and internationally with little notice
  • Comfortable on small vessels and able to work through sea sickness as required

Preferred

  • Experience welding
  • Technical certification or degree in mechanical or electrical disciplines
  • Experience with, or desire to learn scripting languages
  • Experience with, or desire to learn Linux

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is primarily sedentary in nature. However, the duties of this job, will require the ability to walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently lift, push, or pull equipment at a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing some duties of this job, the employee may be required to travel domestically and internationally. This role may also require exposure to a variety of manufacturing and/or offshore platform job sites which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. 

Conditions may include exposure to heat, loud environments, small vessel maritime conditions, and 12 hour shifts.
