Treasury Data Analytics and Forecasting
BlockAbout the role
Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment. The blocks that form our foundational teams — People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more — provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.
The Role
The Treasury team manages Block's liquidity and access to capital. We ensure that Block has enough cash available to meet the needs of our customers, departments, and foundational teams. We value using data and financial modeling tools to assess our financial position and provide real-time answers to questions about capital, liquidity, and corporate risks.
We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst with a background in finance to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in data analysis, financial modeling, and dashboard development. You will play a key role in improving visibility into Block’s liquidity position by building a bottoms-up cash forecast to ensure adequate capacity for growth in each market. In addition, you will work with our Treasury Operations, Data Science and Engineering teams to develop analytical tools for ongoing treasury management and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate with all partners. This role will report to the Capital Markets and Investment Lead and can be based in any of our US offices or be fully remote.
You Will
- Build a bottoms-up cash flow forecast: establish relationships with key partners (Departments leads, Finance & Strategy, Accounting, Tax) to understand requirements and gather data; design and test forecast accuracy; and use Block’s automated tools.
- Develop dashboards and reports that provide insights into financial performance, including liquidity, leverage and balance sheet efficiency
- Use SQL and other programming languages to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from multiple sources.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity by performing regular data validation and quality checks
- Communicate findings to stakeholders through clear documents, reports and visualization dashboards (Tableau/ Looker)
- Work cross-functionally with accounting, tax, internal audit and other partners to support the Capital Markets & Investments team’s daily responsibilities and ad hoc projects.
You Have
- 5 years of relevant experience in data analysis with emphasis in finance or cash forecasting (corporate experience is preferred)
- Advanced SQL experience (be prepared for SQL-based case study) with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker
- Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate efficiently with internal and external partners
- Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy
- Experience with financial systems and tools such as Hyperion/Oracle
