Senior Software Engineer [Java / Kotlin]

<p><strong>What you will be doing:</strong></p> <p>We are looking for driven, talented Senior Software Engineers to help us build our SaaS-based anti-money laundering solutions, which help organizations fight financial crime! We are building cutting-edge solutions that help reveal the truth for a safer world and stop money from ending up in the hands of criminals. </p> <p>As a Senior Software Engineer, you will </p> <ul> <li>Be working alongside our ML engineers, data scientists, and other software engineers within the Tribe.</li> <li>Help us deliver new features and maintain our platform as we apply new technologies and scale our systems. </li> <li>Join one of our agile teams and help us make the right technical and architectural decisions as we evolve and scale our systems. As a Senior, we will look to you to sometimes take the lead in these discussions and bring your own ideas as well as solicit and incorporate ideas from others in the team. </li> <li>Contribute to sprint planning and be able to demo the features you’ve worked on to stakeholders.</li> <li>Write tests, and take ownership of the systems that ensure the quality of our code.</li> <li>Coach others in the team, sharing best practices and mentoring them.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Our Tech Stack:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Our technology stack is designed to run on public cloud architectures, notably AWS and GCP. </li> <li>Development is organised around Kotlin and Python for our backend languages and TypeScript/ES6+React for our frontend stack. </li> <li>We make substantial use of relational database technologies, notably Postgres, Yugabyte.</li> <li>We also use an event-sourced model powered by Kafka for our communication bus and gRPC for our intra-service communication protocol. </li> <li>We use modern observability solutions from Grafana Cloud, and deploy our code using ArgoCD</li> </ul> <p>We have a strong emphasis on engineering excellence and strive to ship the best possible code and the best possible solutions to our customers.</p> <p><strong>About you:</strong></p> <p>As a Senior Software Engineer, you will</p> <ul> <li>Have Kotlin experience is ideal. Ideally this would be backend experience but we would also be open to individuals who have worked on Android development</li> <li>Have 5+ years experience writing production-grade Kotlin or JVM based applications</li> <li>Have awareness of a range of languages and paradigms, with the ability to coach/mentor juniors</li> <li>Have experience with high scale applications such as APIs dealing with large request volumes</li> <li>Have experience building and maintaining REST APIs</li> <li>Have experience with Docker/containerisation/Kubernetes/Jenkins and cloud infrastructure(AWS/Azure/GCP)</li> <li>Show ownership of software from idea inception to production</li> <li>Have experience writing unit tests and working with tooling for testing, build and deployment pipelines (setting it up is a plus) </li> <li>Have working understanding of logging, monitoring and alerting tooling (setting it up is a plus)</li> <li>Show us good communication and written skills including experience producing technical documentation</li> </ul> <p>Nice to haves:</p> <ul> <li>It would be nice if you had experience working in a multi-disciplinary team (Engineers, SREs, Product)</li> <li>Worked in an agile environment and have experience in pair programming</li> </ul> <p><strong>Education:</strong></p> <ul> <li>BSc/BA degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline OR relevant years of experience in required skills.</li> </ul> <p><strong>About us:</strong></p> <p>ComplyAdvantage is the financial industry’s leading source of AI-driven financial crime risk data and detection technology.
