South Pointe Hospital’s Adult Medical Emergency Team (AMET) responds to codes and rapid responses, providing urgent care to patients at risk of clinical deterioration. The AMET team performs critical interventions including CPR, intubation, defibrillation, and emergency medication administration. All nurses hired into the AMET role work both on the AMET and in a clinical capacity within the Intensive Care Units (ICUs), and they also participate in education and quality improvement initiatives. The AMET RN delivers early intervention during potential life-threatening events, bringing critical care expertise directly to the bedside to improve patient outcomes. As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient journey, interacting directly with patients and families to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments
- External applicants: two years of recent experience in an acute care setting
- Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
- Will consider military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
