JOB SUMMARY
The Electrical Controls Engineer will participate in the layout of electrical system products essential for the Data Center, HVAC applications and energy storage products. This role will involve designing and developing wiring harness systems, including schematic creation, harness architecture, panel layout, developing specifications, selecting key components, and transitioning design to manufacturing. Furthermore, the position includes leading test process implementation and ensuring equipment alignment to maintain the highest standards of operational excellence and reliability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proficient in creating and reviewing electrical design drawings, including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control schematics, P&IDs, I/O schedules, and panel layouts; using CAD software for electrical design (preference for EPlan, AutoCAD Electrical, Creo Schematic) to expedite and improve product designs for data center applications.
- Direct engagement with customers for technical review and understanding of the customer’s requirements in their requests for electrical proposals, including system designs, single-line drawings, three-line drawings, panel controls, etc..
- Work in partnership with customers in new product solution designs and development of electrical power distribution equipment such as Low Voltage Switchgear, Power Distribution Cabinets or LV panel boards.
- Design and develop wiring harness systems, including schematic creation, harness architecture, and layout translating designs to manufacturing drawings
- Provide calculations for project specification electrical cables, electrical wire schedule, wire gauge, sizing, and selection for bulk material take-offs
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and prototype testing activities to validate designs.
- Ensure all designs adhere to codes and standards, including UL, IEC, NEC, and ANSI, to maintain safety and regulatory compliance.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring to ensure compatibility, functionality, and safety of the system.
- Perform reviews of automation controls drawings and wiring diagrams to identify potential risks and non-compliance issues.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, and work instructions for electrical connections to ensure consistent, quality, and accurate production.
- Communicate technical updates, progress, and challenges to project stakeholders, ensuring alignment and timely decision-making.
- Prepare and review short circuit coordination studies and maintain the software models to match as-built site conditions.
- Review control panel design and UL standards for designing and building control panels
- Perform vendor drawing reviews and prepare documentation, including Bill of Material (BOM), submittals, calculations, data sheets, detailed drawings, specifications, and test plans
- May undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
